BISHOP CHERRINGTON.

MEETING OF SUPPORTERS. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, April 10. A meeting of supporters of Bishop Cherrington in the Cathedral parish was held last night. About 70 attended. The Bishop, who is visiting Taranaki, wrote renewing the suggestion that they might move the centre of the diocese to another parish. “I think it ought to be made quite clear whether the people..of Hamilton wish St. Peter’s to remain the cathedral or not. I thought the meeting in September last had done so, but apparently the people'think otherwise. It does seem to me that if St. Peter’s is to remain a cathedral and be efficient as such the Bishop’s help and presence should be demanded and welcomed as often as he is able to give it.” One speaker said that the Bishop had been virtually kept out of the cathedral, except when he could demand to be there.

. The meeting chose nominees for the cathedral offices. The parishioners will meet next Wednesday.
