t - r annual meeting. The annual general meeting of the Manawatu A. and P. Association held yesterday Mr J. Linklater, M.P., presiding. ... i The annual report and i balance-sheet, (previously published) were adopted on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr J. M. Johnston. . . Speaking to the acting-president s annual report, Mr IV. McKenzie was of the opinion that the annual meeiine should be held at an earlier date each year, to enable a comprehensive canvass to he made for further, members. • ' ’ ' , The suggestion was noted.; The opinion was expressed by Mr T. Webb that there should -be points prizes in every class in the vegetable section to attract greater entries. The chairman said that Mr \Yebb had donated £1 towards a points prize and the association had given £2 To supplement the amount, the speaker would donate £2 for the purpose. .Mr Webb had been an exhibitor for many years and it was hoped that he would be one for many years to come. . , , Mr LinkLaiter was appointed president of the association for the ensuing year, white Mr J. M. Johnston was re-appointed treasurer. Both were elected unopposed. A tribute to the past work or Mr Linklater in his capacity as actingpresident was paid by Mr J. M. Johnston, and he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks by acclamation. The following were elected members of the general committee; —Messrs H. Akers, H. Y. Lethbridge, J. A. Russell, J. F. Knight, H. E. Hacken, B. G. Gower, L. G. Millward, R. W. Dalrymple, A. L. Wheeler, H. W. Smart, L. J. Wild and W. D. Carson. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded the secretary and staff, the treasurer, the outgoing committee for services during tire past year, the Press, show judges, and all who assisted m making the shows their complete successes. Speaking of the vote of thanks accorded to the treasurer, Mr Linklater said that lie was sure that the members were conversant with the very able manner in which Mr Johnston carried out his duties. "
