INDIAN AIR LINE

ORDER FOR ’PLANES PLACED. BRITISH CONSTRUCTION. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (British Official -Wireless.) Received April 10. 11.5 a.m. RUGBY, April 9. Imperial Airways, Limited, have E laced an order with Handley Page, imited, for the construction of four 2000 horse-power aeroplanes for the England to India air line. Each machine will be capable of carrying 40 passengers, in addition to a pilot, engineer and a steward. There wifi be a buffet from which refreshments will be_ served to passengers while the machine is in flight. The machines will be fitted with automatic slots to ensure their safety. The total order represents one of the largest yet placed for British air transport. The fuselage complete, but without wings, will be on exhibition at the British Aero show at Olympia in July and for exhibition- purposes will be mainly of wood, .although the actual aircraft will be entirely of metal construction.
