ANZAC DAY SERVICE.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —While not wishing in any way to detract from the solemnity of the occasion, may I suggest to the R.S.A. authorities that, in place of the long and tiring service with its protracted prayers and sermon at the Showgrounds, a short service be held at the Soldiers’ Memorial P Chairs from the Opera House could be placed for the old folks and the younger portion of the audience could easily stand for a short time. Sitting for an unreasonable length of time on the draughty and uncomfortablo Showgrounds grandstand is not conducive to good health. If the service must be at the Showgrounds it is to be hoped the various speakers will curtail their verbosity 1 am, etc.,- BREVITY Palmerston North, April 11, 1929
