UTILITY POULTRY

REVISION OF STANDARD. Suggestions for an alteration in the utility standard of poultry were advanced at the recent New Zealand conference attended by Mr T. Bruce, of Palmerston North, as delegate of the North Island Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association when the matter of a revision was mentioned, and a committee was formed to investigate the position. The proposals made were as follow:

(a) That the North and South Island P.P. and C. Associations be requested to take steps at once to liavo the New Zealand utility standard brought up to date. (b) That the two asosciations be recommended to consult specialists, clubs, utility clubs and egg-lnying competitions’ authorities in order to obtain their opinions on the various breeds. (c) That the matter be finalised by the end of June, 1929. (d) That the following breeds be added to the present list: Sussex, Khaki Campbell ducks, Black Longehangs, White Runner ducks. These recommendations were adopted later by the conference.
