(Australian Press Association). LONDON, April 1. At the annual conference of the Independent Labour Party, which wa3 held at Carlisle, Mr J. Maxton was elected chairman. Sir Oswald Mosley failed to secure election to the Nal tional Council.

AUSTRALIAN PRESIDENT ELECTED. LEVY ON M.P.’S SALARIES. Received April 2, 10.5 a.m. SYDNEY, April 2. The Australian Labour Party elected Mr J. J. Graves president. It was also decided that union officials and Labour M.P.’s be levied one half per cent, on their salaries so as to augment the party funds.
