POST SECTION PLAY.

THIRTEEN RIN/KS ENGAGED. FIRST ROUND RESULTS. Thirteen rinks which had survived the first nine rounds ot the Manawatu Bowling Centre's Easter tournament entered on post-section play at 'die Palmerston North Club s green to-day to decide who should contest the finals. The games consisted of 21 heads eacli, and provided excellent contests. The rinks skipped by W. Crump (P.N.;, G. W. tv-airdrop (Woodville) and jN. H. Nash (P.N.) had byes in the first round, details of which are as follow:

L. Brown (P.N.) 24 v. D. Munro (Island Bay) lb; Crawford (Karori) 34 v. Thompson u oxton) 15; Kershaw (Manawaiu) 20 v. Brackenridge (Victoria) 19; Wilson (P.N.) 23,v. C. Pickering (P.N.) 13; Norwood (Victoria) 21 v. lteid (Ly.ali Bay) 15. In. the match between Brackenridge (Victoria.) and .Kershaw (Manawatu), the final heads provided an excising finish. Brackenridge did not open his account until Ins rink secured a tour on the fourth head, bringing them level with Kershaw (Manawatu). The visiting skip then increased his total to 11 at the nin’tli head, Kershaw in turn failing to add to his score. Another iocr on the tenth made Brackenridge’s tally fifteen, but he did not score again tor another five heads when he' led 16—13. Excellent play was witnessed on the 18th head,, which was keenly contested. Brackenridge was lying two on the jack when Kershaw trailed the kitty to get the shot bowl, and with his last delivery he made his score two on the head, ,a>t which stage the rinks were level, 18 all. Another keen struggle took place on the lollowing head. Brackenridge was lying one up on a wide head when Kershaw cut him out to get the shot bowl, aiid took the head with a single:- Manawatu got ithe shot bowl early, and this gave them another point as it was not disturbed throughout the penultimate head. At the last Brackenridge was lying one up, but required two to tie. He railed to improve his position, and suffered defeat Dy one point. In the match between the rinks skipped by L. Brown (P.N.) and D. Munro (Island Bay) the latter led up to the end of the ninth head, bu'i Brown then gradually drew ahead, and won 24 —16.

Crawford (Karori) won 'comfortably from Thompson (Foxton). The former opened his score with a four on the third head and at the 11th led 18 —6. Thereafter both added to '-.heir totals in turn, but (he 17th proved disastrous to Thompson, the Karori rink getting six, and finishing 34 —15. Wilson’s rink accounted for that skipped l by his club-mate. Pickering. The latter did not score between the fifth and sixteenth heads, and at that stage the odds were heavily against him, the score being 22 to 6. He improved his position over the last few heads, and the _game ended 23 —13. Norwood (Victoria) kept ahead of Reid (Lyall Bay) throughout, though the margin was never sufficient to make the leading rink feel safe, and the game finished 21—15 in favour of Victoria. In the second round the draw is as follows: —Wilson v-. Kerßiaw; Norwood v. Brown; Nash v. Crump; Wardrop v. Crawford. The winners of these games meet in the semifinals. MARLBOROUGH TOURNEY.
