EASTER SUNDAY
CHURCH SERVICES. Special Easter services were conducted in the local churches yester-. day, with addresses appropriate to the occasion. . Speaking at the Cuba Street Methodist Church Rev. J. D. McArthur took as his subject for >the morning service, “The Risen Christ,” while in the evening his ’theme was “The Many Forms of Jesus.” Miss M. illick was the soloist.
At St. Paul’s, Rev. J. E. Parsons took as his subject in the morning “Along the Emmaus lload,” and in the evening, “The Conquering Christ.” Special Easter music was played with an Easter story for the children. Canon Fancourt, at All Saints’, took as his text “Mary Magdalene” for the morning service and in the evening his theme was “I want something.” Rev. C. H. G. Bycroft was the preacher at Emmanuel Congregational Church. Special Easter subjects were chosen for both morning and evening services, with appropriate music. Major and Mrs Gray conducted special services at the Salvation Army Citadel, with messages suitable to the day. At the Baptist Church, Rev. F. A. Orawshaw held a revival prayer meeting in the morning, with special themes for the other services. Rev. R. Gardner, of Woodville, was the preacher at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in the morning, while in the evening, Mr L. Noedl was in the pulpit, both services carrying the Easter message.
