(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, March 30.

Advice lias been received from tho Education Board o£ the appointment of Mr R. Harrison to bo head master of tho local school, vice Mi- A. A. Wodde, who has been appointed to another position. Mr Harrison’s present position is lioad toucher of tho Ricnmond bchool, -Nelson, and ho has 30 years’ service. Mr R. Thwaite3 is on holidays in the Nelson District. Thcro was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of tho Shannon Golf Club held on Wednesday evening, tho president (Mr A. Blackwood) presiding. Tho balanco sheet showed a credit of £6 19s 11, outstanding subscriptions £5, and a donation of £5 from Messrs Stern Bros., being their charge for mowing tho green, making a total credit of £l6 19s lid. The president in his report referred to tho past year as quito successful considering the small membership of tho club. Tho links wore in good order for the most part of the season especially after the fairways wore mow-ed. Club matches were played at homo and away against tho Levin, Manawatu and Foxton Clubs, all tho games being thoroughly enjoyed. Medal matches wero played each month being won by tho following players. April, A. Saxon, and Foxton lady; May, Mrs Saxon and W. King; Juno, C. Stern; July, H. Stern, and Miss Dillon; August, 11. Jones. Mr Blyth, a member of tho club, won tho Manawatu Cup at tho Hokowhitu Links last season and will ho playing again at Palmerston North for tho Easter tourney. Ho is to bo congratulated on his prowess. “Tho ladies as usual rolled out in good numbers and provided tho afternoon teas which wero very much appreciated. Tho greons superintendent, Mr A. Saxon, deserves tho thanks of tho club for his work. Tho thanks of tho club aro also due to tho owners of tho properties wo played on, they helping in every way to make play appreciated by all. Messrs Stern Bros., who aro activo members of tho club, and tho Messrs Easton aro tho frionds who have made it possible for tho club to continue and who, I believo, have a scliemo in hand that will bo of great benefit to tho club during tho coming year, Tho thanks of tho club are duo to the services rendorod by your enorgetic secretary, Mr A. H. Morgan, who always has the welfaro of tho club at heart. I also wish to record the thanks of the club to Mr H. C. Jones, our club captain. Tho committee of ladios and gentlemen must also bo thanked for thoir assistance during the season and also tho Press for assistanco in giving publicity to tho club’s affairs. Tho club suffered seven losses in membership in that ono of our oldest members, Mr Bert Spencer, died during the past season after a very severe illness. Mr Spencer did yoenmn work for tho club and was a most energetic committee man, a man tho club could ill afford to loso. Messrs F. Murray, J. Gagliardi, and T. Shannon, have loft the district, each of these members, especially Mr Gagliardi, wero valued members. I trust that tho members will do all thqy can to build up the club membership this year and sinceroly hope that tho coming season will be a prosperous and happy one. The following officers wore elected for tho ensuing season: —President, Mr A. Blackwood, vice-president, Mr W. B. King; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. H. Morgan; club captain, Mr H. C. Jones; ladies’ committee, Misses Sinclair, Dillon, Jones, Rankin, Mcsdamos Moynihan, Saxon, Morgan, C. Easton, Cronqucst; ground supervisor, Mr A. Saxon; committee, president, vicepresident, secretary, captain, Messrs IL and C. Stern, W. McKenzio, \V. Goodwin, and J. D. Campbell.
