(From Our Own Correspondent). OTAKI, March 28. Mr J. P. Brandon is at present confined to his home owing to an attack of influenza. Mr W. H. Bowden states that he has definitely decided to contest the Mayoralty, and that ho is being promised support from all classes of the community. Mr and Mrs Penlington who have been on a motor tour of the Taranaki district, arrived home yesterday afternoon. Their holiday proved a very" enjoyable one. During their trip in the South Island Messrs Will and Harry Fielding motored 2600 miles without a mishap, not even a puncture. Mr D. L. Corrigan, of .Otaki Gorge, who met with an accident last week at his mill, is now recovering and will return to the Gorge in abouta week’s time. On account of wet weather on the occasion of the Otaki Motor Club’s last sports gathering at Levin there was a deficit of nearly £4O, and this it was agreed should be considered by the guarantors, residents of Levin. Mr Milnes suggested that a committee of three be appointed to go into the matter, while Mr McLennan stated that if Otaki was willing to help the guarantors would do their share. The chairman suggested that the guarantors have a meeting and place before the club some proposal, but the wish of the meeting was that the matter be discussed between the two bodies. This was agreed to. Mr Jones suggested that they take up debentures and redeem them from accumulated profits, but M. Irvine thought it would be better for the club and guarantors to go 50-50. This was seconded by Mr Broadway and carried. Mr Milne moved that a committee be set up to put the affairs of the club in order. This was seconded by Mr Irvine, and carried. Messrs Milne, McGill and Nilsson were appointed as the committee to go into matters and report.
