BRAMWELL CUP. The contest for the Bramwell Cup offered each year for the 100 yards championship of the Feilding Swimming Club was decided on Wednesday night with three contestants for the honour, namely, R. 'Bridge, 0. Eade and W. J. Cochrane. Cochrane turned first at the 25 yards, but the others drew level with him and the 50 yards turn saw them still together. Bridge was the last to turn at the 75 yards, but on the home run he sprinted and won by half a yard, Eade beating Cochrane for second place by a touch. The time was 71 l-ssecs.

For the Campbell Cup for schools affiliated with the Feilding and District Public Schools Amateur Athletic Association, excluding the local schools, only Bunnythorpe children entered. Eileen O’Donnell won the 25 yards event and the school also annexed the relay race.

CROQUET. The Oroua Croquet Club has received visits this week from both the Takaro and Terrace End Club, morning and afternoon matches being played. The visitors expressed themselves as being very pleased with the reception and entertainment accorded them and also at the good playing condition of the lawns. EDUCATIONAL. The teachers of Manchester and Lytton Street Schools assembled at the former institution on Wednesday afternoon to hear an address from Mr H, S. Law, inspector, on the new syllabus of instruction in the primary schools, There were 42 teachers present and Mr Laws’s instructive address cleared up many points in the new syllabus which needed elucidation, The opportunity wag taken to welcome Mr Crosby, the newly appointed inspector in tho Wanganui district, METHODIST CAMP, The Methodist Young Men’s Bible Classes of Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay are at present enoamped on . Johnston Park while the Young Women’s Classes are similarly

holding their camp at the Agricultural High School grounds.. POLO. Matters in connection with the Savile Cup polo tournament to com,mence in Feilding on April 4 have allbeen finalised and the indications are tUat this year’s event will prove a record one. The meeting of the two teams in the championship final on Wednesday, April 10, should prove an exceptional draw as polo played by skilful horsemen and clever ponies is exhilarating to witness. >
