EASTER ABROAD

GOOD WEATHER IN ENGLAND. THOUSANDS LEAVE FOR THE SEA TRAVEL SERVICES TAXED. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) LONDON, March 29. Cloudless midsummer sun and warmth are forecasted for the holiday. It is a wonderful compensation for one of the severest winters ever recorded. There have been almost unprecedented scenes in London since early morning. The whole vast road, rail and boat organisations were taxed to their utmost. Harassed porters at Waterloo, Euston, Victoria, St. Pancras and Liverpool Street stations struggled ah day long to accommodate tens of thousands.

Brighton, Southend, Hastings, Ramsgate, Folkestone, Margate and Bognor are ablaze with decorations, and their attractions are many. Bathing is in full swing. Hundreds of tourists arriving at the seaside resorts without hotel reservations are camping on the warm beaches.

FOG IN THE CHANNEL. HOLIDAY TRAFFIC HAMPERED. (British Official Wireless). Received March 30, 11.35 a.m. RUGBY, March 28. While other parts of Britain were enjoying brilliant sunshine yesterday, a fog came over the Channel. It was so dense that the Southampton mail and passenger ships were brought to a complete standstill. Several incoming liners were fog-bound off the Isle of Wight, and the cross Channel steamers had to drop anchor and wait for several hours. The Easter traffic was, in consequence, considerably hampered. The fog cleared during the night and an augmented services of Channel steamers was able to proceed according to schedule this morning.
