RUSSELL STREET SCHOOL.

The roll at this new school is gradually increasing and now stands at 144. There are still several children in the school district who should be attending but are going to other schools. A further increase m the roll is expected when the school re-opens after the Easter holidays. A start has been made with the boys’ football and girls’ basket ball games. At present the boys are playing Rmjby with a small soccer ball—a Rugby ball is needed. The girls also are in need of a basket ball for their game. The committee is awaiting a visit from Mr Lange to confer re the lay out of the grounds, footpaths, etc. The ground lends itself well to an excellent environment and / some day Russell Street School should stand as one of the best in the town. \ Those parents in the district, who are Sending their children to other schools are in a-way prejudicing the appointment of a good permanent staff for the better the attendance the better the staff that will be appointed. The present relieving staff are working earnestly and well and are all out to do their best. The headmaster will be pleased to hear from parents willing to help re material for games, and pictures for decoration of the walls.
