MOTORING ACCIDENT.

FRACTURED THIGH SUSTAINED. A fractured left thigh was sustained, by W. Hirini, aged 18 years, a resident of Foxton, as the result of a motor accident about three o’clock yesterday afternoon. With four other Maoris, the injured youth was being conveyed to the Foxton Beach in a motor vehicle driven by Mr C. McDonald, of Levin. When about a mile from the township, the back axle of the vehicle broke and the car left the road and dropped over a small bank. All of the party were thrown clear, but the vehicle rolled over three times, on the last occasion striking Hirini. Medical attention was soon available and the sufferer was removed to the Palmerston North Hospital, where he is reported to be making good progress. The injured youth is a well known and popular competitor at local swimming carnivals.
