BOMB OUTRAGE.
GREEK CLUB IN MELBOURNE
THREE MEN SENTENCED. MELBOURNE, Feb. 28. After a trial occupying several days three men were convicted of the bomb outrage on the Greek Club in Melbourne on December 1, and were sentenced by Chief Justice Irivne to the maximum penalty—fifteen years’ imprisonment. The prisoners were Timothy O’Connell, aged 35, a dealer; Francis Delaney, aged 27, a salesman; and Alexander Mclver, aged 26, a labourer. Two others, Stanley Williams, aged 36, a bookmaker, and Norman Mclver, aged 28, a stevedore, were acquitted. O’Connell and Delaney admitted prior convictions. In an angry outburst from the dock, O’Connell declared that ho had been the victim of the biggest “frame-up” ever perpetrated. The Judge stopped him, and described him as both cruel and callous.
