Palmerston North Garrison played the first movement rather dulled there being insufficient shading. The nocturne section was more interesting, though the band did not quite catch the atmosphere and occasional faulty intonation was noticed. The march was fairly well played. ASSOCIATION’S CONFERENCE. WANGANUI, March 1. The North Island Band Contest Associations’ Conference was held this morning when Mr H.. D. Bennett presided. In moving the adoption of the report the chairman referred to the fine playing at the contest. He congratulated the Wanganui Contest Committee on securing a judge of such outstanding ability as Mr J.
