COMPETITION EVENTS. Per Press Association. HOKITIKA. March 1. The United Fir© Brigades’ Association demonstration was continued today. .After a showery night, the day was fine and sunny throughout. The water pressure continued highly satisfactory and the general arrangements were, very complete. The demonstration will conclude to-morrow and the presentation of trophies will take place in the evening. Results: Three men, hose and standpipe event.—Addington Railway, 23 4-ssecs (12 points) 1; Petone, 24 2-ssecs (9 points) 2; AVhangarei, 24 3-ssccs (7 points) 3. Hillside Railway, 25secs and Lower Hutt tried for fourth. Oamaru and Stratford (25 2-ssecs) secured II points. Eifty-six teams competed. Three men, motor event. —Hawera, 17 2-ssecs (12 points) 1; Masterton, 19 3-ssecs (9) 2; Petone, 20secs (7) 3. Also competed : Taihape 20 4-ssecs (spts), Te Aroha 21secs (4pts), Rotorua 21 3-ssecs (3pts). Thirty-seven teams competed. i Five men, disabled hose event. — Carterton, 54 4-ssecs (20pts) 1; Greymouth and Te Kuiti, 55 4-ssecs (14pts) 2; Stratford and Thames each 57 4-5 secs (7pts) 3; Hawera, 58 4-ssecs (4pts) 4.
