A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

(Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, March 2. Mr J. G. Eliott presided over the usual monthly meeting of tho general committee of the Feilding A. and P. Association last night. CORRESPONDENCE. From Miss J. Thomsoji, Mrs S. M. Hobbs, Messrs C. E, Twist, A. Robottom, J. Bull, R. D. Kniglit, J. Hodges and A. Kirkpatrick stating that they were not making any charge to the association for expenses incurred in judging at the last show.—lt was resolved that a letter of thanks be forwarded to* each judge. From the New Zealand Land Settlement and Development League asking the association to appoint delegates to attend a conference of the league in Wellington this month when the matter of taking steps towards a satisfactory solution of the present settlement and migration problem would bo discussed.—Received, no action being taken. From the Manawatu-Oroua branch of the N.Z. Pig Breeders’ Association regretting that a greater ‘‘entry of pigs had not been made at the last show and promising the association its support at future shows.—Received with thanks. From the N.Z. Meat Producers’ Board stating that the show export stock had been shipped and would leave shortly for England.—The secretary reported that lie had received word that the stock was on the Argleshire and would be leaving for England perhaps to-day or Monday. A competitor in the pony riding classes wrote complaining that several of the children who had received awards in this class were over the age stipulated in the catalogue.—The committee discussed the matter at length and it was decided to reply stating that it was certainly the duty of the steward in charge to intervene in these matters when competitors were obviously over the age stipulated, but in cases where it _ was not obvious it was the duty of interested parties to make a complaint beforehand. GENERAL. The application of the N.Z. Polo Association for the use of the grounds for a polo tournament was referred to the grounds committee. It was reported that Mr W. Grey, of Palmerston North, had donated a 25 guinea cup to the Itomney-Marsh group class and the association’s thanks are to be conveyed to the donor. Mr W. Page reported that a firm had donated half a ton of manure as a trophy for the next show. The chairman presented to Mr H. B. Johnston the cup won for the most points in the Romney classes at the last show and congratulated this young hreder on the feat of winning it three times in succession and so taking the trophy permanently. It reflected great credit oil Mr Johnston’s skilful breeding that at the last show ho had won the first, second, third and fourth prize in tho ram lamb class and first and second in the ewe lamb class. In a brief reply, Mr Johnston thanked the chairman for his remarks ami intimated that he would have much pleasure in replacing tho cup. Votes of thanks were accorded the ladies who assisted in the home .industries soction and also the junior stewards in the other section. Donations amounting to £154 4s 0d were received with thanks. I Mr G. E. Allen, of Mastorton, also wrote donating a cup to the association and thanking it for the many courtesies extended to him at the last show.—Received with thanks. The resignations of Messrs H. R.. Murray, AV. J. Francis and J. E. AV. Nairn were accepted with regret. HEDGE ON FIRE.

The Fire Brigade received a call to Moggitt Street this morning at about 10 minutes to 10 o’clock, a macrocarpa hedge at the residence of Mr Cunningham having caught alight. The brigade was promptly in action and the flames were subdued with no further damage than the probable ruining of a section of the hedge.
