SWIMMING.
CONDITIONS AT HOME. (United Service.) LONDON, Feh. 27. The Amateur Swimming Association directs attention to the deplorable times recorded by English entrants, also the paucity of entries in the men’s middle and. long distance events. The association points out that the mile championship, which is the blue riband of English swimming, secured only three entrants, of whom two started. The New Zealander, D. P. Lindsay, alone completed the course, while the winner of the half mile championship was nearly a minute outside the standard. The committee declared that the time had arrived when these regrettable features must bo remedied.
