Y.M.C.A. SWIMMING CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT.

“In presenting our report for the season 1927-28, the committee wish to express their keen appreciation of the manner in which members got behind all activities organised throughout the past season, and express the hopo that the same support wil be forthcoming again this year,” states the report of the Y.M.G.A. Swimming Club, to bo presented at. the annual meeting. “The club. stands in a sound financial position and is to bo congratulated upon the fact that there is not a single member unfinancial. Members of our club competed successfully at many of the swimming carnivals held throughout the district. C. McKenzie holds tho record time for the Manawatu 100 yards championship, and E. Eletcher . the 100 yards intermediate championship. Wo heartily- congratulate both. After keenly contested club races had been hold during tho season at the Central baths, tho Eyre Cup was won by K. Robinson. The club specialises in tho teaching of life saving, classes being held continuously during tho season. It is with pleasure that we are able to report that the Royal Lifo Saving Society has awarded proficiency certificates, the bronze medallion and award of merit to the following members : Messrs R. Haddon, S. Wilson, C. McMinn, G. Young, J. Griggs, T. Twigge, K. Robinson, B. Harvey and G. McMinn. Mr W. Eyre was awarded the honorary instructors’ and teachers’ certificate. Our best thanks are duo to the Central School Committee for the use of their baths twico weeply for club meetings. This year the club will miss the valuablo services of Mr W. Eyre, now physical director of the Y.M.C.A. at Hamilton. We take this opportunity of thanking Mr Eyre for his invaluable work in connection with this club and of wishing him every success in the important position he now fills. Tho committee asks that the members make every possible effort to increase our membership during the year, and that each will co-operate with the incoming committee to make this tho club’s record year.”
