BRILLIANT SCENE.

EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION

CONGRESS IN SYDNEY

SYDNEY, Sept. 6. Pontifical High Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral by the Bishop of Namur in the presence of the Papal Legate. The cathedral was packed, and outside th.ero were 50,000 people, who heard tho Mass by means of amplifiers. From an early hour the Cathedral was the scene of great activity, the congregation of over nine thousand, including members of the consular corps and the chief civic commissioner, assembling long before tho service commenced.

There was a most impressive procession headed by the Knights of St. Gregory and St. Silvester and the wearers of tho Crown of Leo, all in dress clothes .and wearing orders. There were also the Monsignors of the Papal Household and a long line of purpleclad bishops. The colours of the many different nationalities and orders made a brilliant spectacle. It was by far the most brilliant sight of the congress proceedings.
