CONFERENCE CONCLUDED,

AVELLINGTON, Sept. 6. Tho Acclimatisation Societies’ Conference concluded to-night. The conference adopted remits recommending that the Fisheries Act be amended to cover the confiscation of boats used in tho unlawful taking of fish; that all owners and users of seine nets bo registered ; that each society take up the matter of whitebait; that no sawmill or fiaxmill be erected on or near the bank of a stream containing trout without notification to the district society and that such notification should also refer to the disposal of refuse. _lt was further sought that the Fisheries Act be amended to provide for a minimum fino of £lO for the offence of obstructing any officer under the Act while in the execution of his duty. A proposal that the Alarine Department be asked to inquire into the merits of liberating trout in reservoirs as an aid to the purification of the water supply was carried. A motion to hold further conferences of the New Zealand Acclimatisation Society in a different centre each year extending over two days was defeated. It was thought better to bold the conference in Wellington, as it enabled any deputation to see the Alinister.
