James Arthur Robert Stewart, aged 27, was convicted of systematic theft from his employers when charged W fraudulently converting his employers (the Marlborough Engineering Co now in liquidation) moneys. ibere were 18 charges, involving amounts from 7s 6d to £3 5s 6d, extending over a period of two years. Though accused pleaded not guilty, he made sion to tho police on arrest, admitting thefts up to £SOO. He was sentenced to three months’ hard labour on each charge, the sentences on the hist lour charges to be cumulative and on the remainder concurrent.
