MECHANICAL MAN.
REMARKABLE INVENTION
(United Service.) LONDON. Sept. 4. The Daily Mail states that a manlike figure, more life-like than the cleverest waxwork, capable of bowing, shaking hands, and talking,.will open a mode] engineering exhibition in London on September 15. It is tlio invention of an engineer, Mr A. H. Reffell, who has been assisted by a journalist. When it opens the exhibition the figure will rise from a chair, deliver a speech which will be actually, the voice -of a person speaking through a wireless mechanism concealed in the throat, after which it will answer questions put by the audience. The inventors are at present dissatisfied wi'th the movement of the lips and arc making efforts in the direction of an improvement.
