SHANNON BRIDGE.
CONSTRUCTION WORK COM-
PLEATED. Reporting on tho new Shannon bridge over the Manawatu River the chairman (Cr. W. E. Barber) stated at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council that construction work on the bridge had been completed and, with the exception of tho approaches, the bridge was ready for traffic.
The approach on the Moutoa sido was formed and only awaited metal, Cr. Barber explained, but unfortunately tho work could not be pushed ahead as the metal was coming from the Shannon side and the approach there was incomplete. The council expressed the opinion that tho Public Works Department would expedite the work in view of the danger that was threatening the punt as tho outlet from Moutoa through the erosive action of tho river on the banks.
