LOST IN THE BUSH.

YOUNG WOMAN’S EXPERIENCE. WHANGAREI, Aug. 13. When seeking ferns in the dense bush on the Roscmont estate yesterday. Miss Edna Willcocks, of Whau Valley, was lost for several hours. Accompanied by her brother, Arthur, Miss Willcocks was returning down a stoop gully, through which ran a stream. Thinking she would save herself unnecessary clambering, Miss Willcocks set off on tlio top track, while her brother followed the stream at the foot of the gully. Miss Willcocks disappeared, and her brother became anxious. Hrs calls were drowned by the noise of a nearby waterfall. It was then shortly before four o’clock, and Air AAilleocks remained in the vicinity until dusk, when ho returned homo and notified the neighbours of his sister’s disappearance. He then sot out with All George Iv-ehoe to start another seaich. The pair were armed with a shotgun, which was discharged at intervals, but the. searchers became confused bv the shouts of other parties. Shortly after nine o,’clock, when m the vicinity of tiro waterworks reserve, some distance’ from where she was lastseen, Miss Willcocks was found again. She had wandered into another gully. AVlien the party, numbering seven, was returning homo a torch failed, and it was three hours before they finally got out of the bush. -. Aliss Willcocks was not greatly injured by her experience, but was unable to leave her room to-day.
