BAIN ESSE, Aug. 4.

Favoured with ideal weather, the children’s carnival proved most successful on Friday evening. The children eagerly look forward to this event for some weeks every year when the second term is drawing to' a clouc, and the function has become thoroughly popular. Mrs Gray, head teacher, and Miss McKenzie are to be complimented on the way in which the whole affair was presented. Various dances and games arc as interesting to watch as they arc enjoyed by the children. A new departure by the way of maypole dancing was this year included and all the figures were very cleverly carried out. A birthday cake with seventy-two candles was distributed at the close of the evening. Fruit salad, jellies and cream, cakes and sandwiches were prepared by the ladies. The. children’s spot waltz pride was won by Selina Crammer with Ivan Dunford. Carnival caps, etc., proved a great attraction. *lllO arrangements were carried out by Mcsdamcs T. Crammer, Gray, Robertson, Millard, Pollard and Ryan, and Misses McKenzie, Crammer and Robertson (2). r i lie preparation of the school involves quite a lot of work before and afterwards, and Messrs. Crammer, Ryan, Millard and Robertson worked hard for the enjoyment of the children. Music was supplied by Miss McKenzie, extras being played by Mr G. Millard and H. Jefferies. Mr T.
