AVOMEN’S DIVISION

Tho monthly meeting of the executive of the Manawatu branch of the AVomen’s Division of the Farmers Union was held on Saturday afternoon, Mrs Carson presiding. Also present were Mesdames A. Mitchell, J. Armstrong, Hughes, T. Little, Gilray, AV. Swainson, H. Bond, A. Lord, Miss M. Carson and Mrs J. Shaw (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Howell and F. Cheetham.

The secretary reported that a profit of £9 10s 6d had been made on the recent dance, in addition to which Mrs Nelson had made a donation of 6s. Azotes of thanks were accorded to all who had assisted in making the dance a success. The resignation of Mrs A. Pauli from the executive was received with regret. It was decided that members should attend a meeting on August 24 of women’s organisations to welcome Miss McCorkindale, a speaker from Australia, who is under engagement for the forthcoming prohibition campaign. The president briefly reported upon the proceedings at the recent Dominion conference in AVellington, saying that it had been a most successful fixture. It was decided to hold a jumble sale on AVednesday, August 15, the proceeds to go to charitable objects.
