STRANDED CRUISER.
COMMANDER DISMISSED. (Australian Press Association —United Service.) LONDON, Aug. 4. A court-martial found LiewtenantCommander Thomas Ramsay Beatty guilty of negligently, suffering the cruiser Dauntless to be stranded near Talifax, Nova Scotia, on July 2.
Commander Beatty has been dismissed from the ship and severely feprimanded.
Tho cruiser Dauntless grounded on Thrumcap shoal, about five miles outside Halifax, in a dense fog. It was at first feared that she would become a total wreck, but she was refloated, after all her guns, torpedoes, and most of the movable fittings had been taken off. Tho vessel was so badly damaged, however, that it was said that it would take 500 men three months to repair tho 30-foot hole in her hull.
