RACING NEWS.

FROM STABLE AND COURSE,

(By “Binocular.)

Tlio Acre gelding Broadfiolds, in work at Wingatui, is stated to be a likely looking sort.

Raasay and Gesto wore shipped from Wellington on Friday on route for Sydney courses where they will seek honours.

Paddon, who showed good form a, season ago is reported to ho still out in the paddock. The reason for his lengthy stay is not stated.

Mr W. WTiite heads the local list of winning owners, his candidates having won for him £3269 in stake money. Crown Area was the principal contributor with £1315.

Wanderlust, when running in the colours of Messrs McGill and Slack, placed £770 to the credit of his owners, while following his transfer to Mr W. White he extended his total by a further £l5O. Kilmiss proved quito an oxcollcnt stake earner for her owner, Mr C. I.ouisson, who is incidentally, again president of the Manawatu Racing Club, the Kilboy in are winning £lllO during the course of the season. With minor stake money fiouj Patearoa and Plane, Mr Louisson s full winnings were £1245. Mrs M. A. Blackmoro, whose horses are trained by F. Tilley at Fordoll attends Mr White on the local list with £lOlO, Mandane having been responsible for the full amount.

Mr W. 11. Gaisford won £1614 during the course of the season with his representatives, Atareria and Chelone, who are at present in active work at Awapuni, they having contributed £lOl7 and £350 respectively. The Wellington owner, Mr H. P. F. Blundell, has been officially credited with £1540 for the season per medium of Duke Abbey. The black gelding earned the major portion of the amount while an inmate of G. New’s stable at Awapum, lie being now quartered at Levin. Although it is somewhat difficult to compile owing to transfers of members to and from the stable, G. New, the Dominion’s leading trainer, apparently presented animals who won well over during the course of the season. Acre wa s well represented locally by three of his progeny who are housed in G. New’s stable, for, apart from Crown Area’s total of £1315, Broad Acre r\on £779 and Fee Simple £630, the trio thus being responsible for £2724. Mr E. W. Collins, the owner of Arrow Lad and Mister Gamp, won £1230 as the result of the activities of the pair, the former being responsible for the major amount —£1045. Prior to the demise of Mr J. G. Collins, tho original owner of the Bronzetti gelding, the chestnut had won £235, and ho has since credited his now owner with a further £lB5. Arrow Lad is, however, trained at Woodville, whereas Mister Gamp is in the hands of j. Coyle at Awapuni.

During the past season Mr R. A. McKenzie’s team has been considerably restricted, lie having relied upon G'allanmore to carry his colours following upon Piuthair having to be accorded a let-up and Mireusonta being withdrawn from an activo career. As a result Callaumoro proved to be the largest stake earner for him with £485/ Piuthair having £360 to his credit, while Mireusonta had £220.

Sinco the departure of T. Lloyd to Riccarton, what members of Mr McKenzie’s team that have been, in the active ranks have been handled by R. E. Hatch and the local mentor will no doubt be found in charge of the team in the fuluro for ins efforts with Callanmoro wore attended with a large measure of success. As the owner of Hymgreat, Hatch was credited with £214, while he also won a small stake with Askari at the recent Wellington fixture. Mr G. E. Trevor just failed to top the century mark for the season, and of the £S<eo credited him, Keddar was responsible for £930. He is now associated with Mr J. McMillan in the ownership ot Inflame and a younger member, and it is reasonable to expect that he will hold a stronger hand in future. Mr McMillan won £612 with' his jumper, Vexatious. Trainer J. Coyle had a quartotto in his stable who proved quite reasonable stake earners for, apart from the quotas furnished by Keddar and Vexatious, Novar won £505 for Mr D. Munro, while Mister Gamp annexed stake money to the valuo of £470.

Trainer E. Watson had niot a big team to engage his attention,, but lie possessed two good stake earners in Kilmiss (£1110) and Dobbin, the latter being credited with £650. While Dobbin may have opened lus account prior to being taken in hand by his present mentor, the big proportion at least of his stake winning activities has been performed around this district. Tho great run of successes enjoyed by Frisco Jack last season resulted in liis owner, Mr J. J. YY’aller, being credited with £515. There is a prospect that the Frisdo gelding might open his account in the new season at a comparatively early date. Frisco Jack has been handled since the YVanganui meeting by his owner. Incidentally, Frisco Jack did not accompany Rangi Sarto South last week. Another owner-trainer in C. C. Biel experienced quite a satisfactory run with his consistent Lin Arlington, tho .Acre gelding winning the good sum of £560 during the course of tho past season. A stablo companion in Hodrcn lias not as yet proved capable of contributing towards his oats account.

Holus Bolus proved quite a useful stake earner, tho Boniflorm gelding accounting for £405 for his owner. Although a rangy looking animal, his trainer, J. Hastio, has him looking well at preedit. The Panmure mare Capitaulation, who may or may not be found lout in the ranks of the active workers in the future, credited her ownertrainer, J. E. Kelly, with £4OO, while another mentor in H. H. Doyle won £2OO with Hallownoon.

The jumping stablo of L. Knapp furnished two good stake earners in Powhiri and Puwhero, the former contributing £5lO and the latter £460. Unfortunately for the mentor, the Sir Antrim gelding is still out, while the All Red gelding has had to bo accorded a let-up. Although Rod Bank lias now won twice, ho apparently lias not reached the £2OO mark, for he does not figure in the official list.

Mr M. Millar had an Acre representative and a Some Boy 11. gelding to carry his collours last season, and Desert Lad, tlio younger member, had the satisfaction of heading tho older Some Lad as a stake contributor, tho former being credited with £237 and tho latter with £235. Some Lad has found a new home on tho West Coast, and this season Desert Lad will have as a companion a likely looking sort in another of his family in King Acre. Rouen, who has not sported silk for over two years, is again in work on tho Eoxton tracks. The veteran son of Bcnzonian — Lady Laddo looks remarkably well, and so far is standing up to his daily tasks satisfactorily. Rouen is trained by his new owner, Mr Robinson.

Miss Pat and Discourse have again boon taken up at Foxton, both animaL having benefited by tho spell. Among others under the guidance of Fred Carmont aro Beaumont and Coon Song (a rising two-year-old, by Hunting Song, owned by Mr F. Easton). Carmont has also several juveniles to occupy his attention. Bulolo sprinted a smart half-mile in company with Avon Court at Ellerslic recently and, comments “Whalebone,” this rising three-year-old promises to be in good fettle for the spring meetings. Bulolo displayed plenty of ispeed in the few races that he contested as a two-year-old, and has dono well during the loff season. When required to carry silk again Importer will be an improved horse, judging by his condition and the work he is being allotted by his trainer, states a northern writer. The imported gelding has proved himself a good, useful jumper, and providing he trains lon as ho is r.ow doing he should get his share of stake money later on.

Don Jose, who appears to be training on well at Riccarton, won the Stonyhurst Handicap, one mile, a race for three-year-olds, at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s spring meeting, beating Wild l’igeon, who had previously annexed the Oaks. He later accounted for a seven furlong event at tho Banks Peninsula autumn meeting, but has since failed to get into tho money. He is by Archery from Michaela, who was very speedy, winning, among other races, tho C.J.C. Stewards’ Handicap.

Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Aug, 4

Bailyfarnon won tho Hunters’ Hurdles easily after Inner Harbour had set the pace for most of the journey.
