Per Press Association,

CHRISTCHURCH, July 31. A deficiency, of £2992 was shown in the bankrupt estate of Archie Mitchell, importer, of Kilbirnie, _ Wellington, a meeting of whose creditors was held to-day. The amount owing to unsecured creditors was £339, the biggest creditor and the petitioning creditors being Mr Arthur Berry, of Riccarton, £1573.

In liis statement bankrupt said that prior to the slump in 1926 he as an importer of footwear had a profitable business. He went to Australia and purchased £40,009- worth of goods. If lie had had a fortnight longer he would have made a big profit, but the slump came too soon and many orders that had been consigned were repudiated.

A resolution was carried that the assignee be recommended to facilitate bankrupt’s discharge.
