SCHOOL RUGBY.
TOWN v. COUNTEY. Played .on the Showgrounds this morning, the town v. country primary schools Bugby match .aroused considerable interest, there being a fair attendance of parents. From the players, fifteen were chosen to play Feilding on Saturday next, when a final selection will be made of the team to represent the district in the annual schools tournament at 'Wellington. Three twenty minute spells were played, with changes of players, and the statement that “Bugby is made in the schools” was certainly borne out. Both sides played a fast and open game, the ball being handled in great 6tyle. At no time was there much to choose between them, but the town team emerged the winners by. 14 points to 5. Mr W. F. Dudson was referee. For town, Todd, Cutler, Bovis and Barnao scored while Gimblett kicked a goal. For country, Hehir scored and Gloyne kicked a goal. The following team was chosen by the selectors, Messrs Trevena and Campbell, to play next Saturday: S. Evans (Terrace End), J. Hehir (Oroua Downs), A. Mutch (Terrace End). A. Frecklington (Rongotea), A. McNeile (Terraco End), E. Parker (Rongotea), Campbell (Longburn). C. Judd (College Street), Williams (Central). Forno (Central), Russell (Hokowhitu), Ward (Terrace End), Daly (College Street), H. Mutch (Terrace End), Cutler (Central). Gloyn (Rongotea), A. Bovis’(Terrace End), Gimblett (Rangiotu) and Lanestone, (Central). A practice match has been arra' 1 ' against Technical School on Wednesday next.
