GISBORNE’S CONGRATULATIONS. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, July 28. The Mayor of Gisborne cabled Tom Heeney to-day as follow: “Gisborne citizens’ congratulations on the great fight put up by you. All traditions have been worthily upheld.” RESULT OF THE EIGHT. WIRELESS BEATS THE CABLES. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, July 28. With reference to the message stating that the cables heat the wireless in announcing the Tunney-Heeney fight, telegraph office documents show that the message received here by wireless was lodged at the Gisborne office at 2.7, and the cable message was l lodged at Wellington at 2.8.
