SERIOUS CHARGES.
AORANGI RESIDENT. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, July 18. Appearing on remand beforo Messrs J. W. Bramwell and V. E. Smith, J.P.’s, at a special sitting of tho Police Court this morning, Robert McConkey, of Aorangi, was charged with having indecently assaulted a female, 15 years of ago. A second charge of a similar nature in respect of a girl, 13 years of age, was also laid. Mr Cooper, and with him Mr Power, appeared for accusod while Sergeant Cahill conducted tho prosecution. Evidence was heard on tho first charge and accused, pleading not guilty and reserving his defence, was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supremo Court at Palmerston North. The second charge in respect of the girl 13 years old was held this afternoon.
