BURGLARS ACTIVE
CYCLE SHOP ENTERED. r For the third occasion this year, the cycle shop of Mr G. Thompson, Rangitikei Street, was entered on Saturday, night or Sunday morning, when the two wheels of a practically new cycle were stolen. All told, four attempts have been made to burgle the shop, three being successful, and the back door of the premises is distinctly battered and scarred with the marks of a crow-bar or jemmy. , When notified by the police on Sunday morning that his place had been entered, Mr Thompson found that a pane had been removed from a back window of the workshop, by means of which the thieves had gained ingress to the building and unlocked the door. The jemmy marks are the relics of a previous visit and Mr Thompson is of the opinion that the thieves used one of his own crow-bars to force admittance. Proceeding to the front of the shop, the thief, or thieves dismantled a cycle which was on show, but took only the wheels. Attempts wore made to switch on the electric light, but the current had been cut off.
