ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of the Board of Management of tho Willard Homo was held in St. Androw’s schoolroom yesterday afternoon, tho retiring president, Mrs E. H. Crabb, presiding over a fair attendance. Tlio annual report was road and adopted as already published, with an addition expressing the hearty thanks of the Board of Management to tho advisory board lor tlio ready and active advice always given when needcd. In moving tho adoption of tlie roport, Mrs Crabb said that it was a very encouraging -document. For many years they had been looking to tho future, speaking of tlio time when they would have a new home, but that hud now becomo an established fact. (Applause). . Mr J. H. Stevens, of the advisory board, said that the home was probably unique in Palmerston North in that it was opened without debt. The homo did good work day in and day out. He suggested that capital moneys should bo invested or used as capital and only tho income should bo used for maintenance. Mrs H. E. Pacey also congratulated tlio board on its activities and said that tho work of the secretary, Mrs E. Birdsall, was especially worthy of praise. Mrs C. A. E. Ferguson asked who was entitled ho vote at tho meetingwero members of tho Women's Christian Temperance Union eligible to vote, or only members of the Board of Management? Tlio president said that she had no definite information on the point, but would bo pleased to sco members of tho W.C.T.U. exercising a vote if competent. Mrs Pacey moved that all present bo entitled to vote and this w.as carried. The balance-sheet showed tlio homo to bo in a very strong financial position. Contributions and donations received during the year amounted to £1045 Is 9d; maintenance fees and interest to £454 8s 4d and proceeds of sales ,and grazing to £96 8s 2d —a total of £1595 18s 3d. The principal items of expenditure wero: Salaries. £317 16s; provisions, £l5B 4s 8d; fuel and lighting, £4O 0s 9d; rent, £47 9s Cd; general, £6l 10s Id. Tho sum of £BB3 lls lOd was transferred to the eaiiital account. Tho auditor, Mr H. F. Wilson, complimented those responsible on the results obtained and paid a special tribute to the honorary book-keeper, Miss "Bryce. Tlie report and balance-sheet were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICEBS.

The election of officers resulted as follows: —President: Mrs Collins; vice-presidents, Mesdames Crabb and Pacey; secretary and treasurer; Mrs Birdsall; new members on tho board, Mesdames Ferguson, McArthur and Lovelock; new member of tho finance committee, Mrs Collins. TRIBUTE TO MRS CRABB’S SERVICES. Mrs Pacey paid a tribute to tho loyal and zealous service rendered, by Mrs Crabb, the retiring president, and moved thdt slio be appointed a life member of tlio board. Mesdames Collins and Hoddcr also spoke eulogistically of tho work of Mrs Crabb, and tho former looked forward to receiving tho help and co-operation in her presidential duties of tho lady vacating tlio chair. Tho motion was carried unanimously. GENERAL. Tho sewing committee and Dr. Hooper and Mr B. Tennent were thanked for tlieir services, as wero tlie homo matron, Miss Anderson, and tho sister, Miss Pearce. Mrs Ferguson suggested that, when a band of hope was formed at tlio home, other children living in tho district bo admitted to membership. Tho suggestion was heartily endorsed by the meeting and when put in the form of a motion by Mrs Pacoy was carried.
