CHRISTCHURCH DECISION. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH June 11. Hie City Council discussed to-night at- length a. proposal to move certain captured German guns from the city reserves. When tho proposal came before the council a few- weeks ago it was carried by an overwhelming Labour majority, the Mayor alone of the party voting against the proposal Arguments at that time were that +he guns as emblems of war’s hate should be removed from places of public resort. An agitation was raised against the proposal by the R.S.A. and other citizens, and to-night when the matter came up for filial decision as to where the guns .should be moved a petition was presented protesting against tire removal. lwo of the guns are actually in front of the Supreme Court on a piece of land which had previously been treated as city land, but which since Die controversy began lias been discovered to be Crown land. Cr. Sullivan, M.P.. proposed as a compromise, and it was agreed tlmt all guns be placed on Crown land and so removed from city reserves Tlio effect of the resolution i s that a few guns will be moved across the river a distance of less than a hundredvards and into a place of equal prominence and equally frequented bv the public
