TOKOMARU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOKOAJARU, June 11. Miss Jenson, of Carterton, is spending a few days .with her. sister, 1 Mrs H.Mclntosh. Miss Linda Irvine, of Linton, spent the week-end with Mrs Norman Kelly.
Air Victor McLaggan lias returned to Wellington after a holiday spent , with liis parents, Air and Airs A. AJcLaggun. Miss Ivy McLaggan has been obliged to return to her homo through illness in I lie family after spending sonic considerable time in Palmerston North.
Alaster William Titconibo, who has been ill for some days, is now showing a slight improvement in his hcaltli. The friends of Airs A. McLaggan will regret to bear that she has been admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital to undergo an operation. Air H. Burge, of Hastings, is visiting his relations in Tokoniaru.
Last Friday evening the Tennis Club hold their fortnightly euchre and dance in the local hall where an enjoyable evening was spent.. The euchre prize winners, were: Ladies’, Mrs L. Peach Ist; Airs Boote 2nd; Aliss Jenson consolation; gentlemen, Air R. Walden Ist; Air W. Hunia 2nd; Air D. Alason consolation. The latter part of file evening was spent in dancing for which Mill. l’arr supplied the music. Air H. C. Stiokes carried out tho duties of AI.C.
Last- Saturday afternoon Ihe local footballers met the Foxton thirds in a match which was played on the recreation ground when the latter defeated the home team by 15 to 3. Peach, Wilton, Kelly and Williams ail played an excellent game. The hockey girls journeyed to Palmerston North to meet Rongotea girls who defeated flic local team by seven to nil. In the first half of the game tile Tokoniaru girls did not tac-kle us well as they might have done which caused Rongotea to put up six goals to nil by half-time, but on returning to the field Rongotea had to play hard for their last goal. Tokoniaru mado several breaks, but were unable to -score.
