NEW INFANT SCHOOL.
FOR COLLEGE STREET.
At the meeting of the College Street School Committee, last evening, notification was received from the Wanganui Education Board that, a recommendation was being made to the department for a grant for building several rooms for tho infant classes on the new site. “in the event of a, grant being made,” tho communication stated, “tho intention of the board is to do away with the building known as the shack and also the corrugated iron building.” ... “It is very gratifying, said the chairman, Mr S. AV. Oliver, “to see our efforts crowned with a measure of success. I believe that wo will soon have a new school.” “I think,” said Mr H. A. Hamilton, “that they have given us this to keep us quiet. * Wo should press for the whole school.” “Half a loaf is better than no bread,” said the headmaster, Mr TV. A. Swinbourn. ft was decided to thank the board for the sympathy shown towards the project of getting a new school for College Street.
