T.B. INVESTIGATION.
REASONS FOR PRIVACY
“WE HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE.” CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. The Tuberculosis Committee sat in Christchurch to-day. and it was expected that, its proceedings would bo m camera, despite a strong demand made recently that they should bo public. , . .. , Dr. Fitchctt, the chairman, said it was felt they would get a freer expression of opinion if there were no publicity, and would bo able to get at the root of the problem. Many doctors did not like giving their views m public. . . ‘•'We aro not a commission, ' said JJr. Fitchctt, “but merely a committee trying to discover the true position of tho question we are investigating. We have nothing to hide. V r e know the North Canterbury Hospital Board is asking for, something that the Health Department docs not want to give it, but that is not our quarrel and does not concern us in the least. W e asked that the inquiry should be conducted in camera because wo thought- this course would help us, best to discover what we are seeking.”
