RUGBY CONTROL

MANAWATU DISTRICT COUNCIL. The weekly meeting of the management committee of tho Manawatu Rugby District Council was held last evening when there wore present Messrs J. A. Colquhoun (in the chair), IT. Crawford, K. Eglinton, E. Clovely, T. Pagan, R. E. Hatch, 11. Hands, T. Collins, A. M. Onglcy, A. J. Trevcna and R. McHcrron.

The New Zealand Rugby Union wroto further to the council’s application for a loan of £SOO, pointing out its inability to entertain the application at present. While tho balaneo-sheet bad disclosed the union as having a large balance, it was pointed out that £IOOO had been earmarked for tho Canterbury Union, £2500 for the Wellington Union, and £ISOO for tho Poverty Bay Union, while £SOO would bo wanted almost immediately for school grants.—The union had originally offered the council Stratford Borough Council debentures, and it was decided to communicate with tho town clerk, Stratford for fuller particulars relative to their being marketable.

The Woodvillo Club wroto forwarding an insurance claim on behalf of J. K. Peebles, who had sustained concussion in the senior match versus Feilding Old Boys last Saturday, tho serious nature of tho injury necessitating his admission to hospital.—Noted for attention. The Te Kawau Sub-Union wrote solicit-

ing financial assistance towards the development of Rugby in the schools of the district.—The customary grant of £5 was authorised. Tho Woodvillo Club forwarded nomination forms for 3rd and 4th grade teams and also inquired whether the council would mako a refund of (he cost of electric light used for training purposes last year, amounting to £1 2s 7d, and whether such would bo likewise borne by the council this season. —A refund was authorised while it was decided to meet this season’s cost up to £2. Tho Palmerston North Technical School wrote requesting that the hour for the commencement of their match on the 12th inst. bo set down at 3 p.m.—Tho match was arranged for the High School No. 2. ground at tho hour requested. Tho Feilding Agricultural High School wroto making application for byes for the 3rd and 4th grade teams on the 12th .and 19th inst. —The request so far as the third grade was refused, it being decided that no byes be granted in this grade, but that of the fourth grade team was agreed to. The Feilding Club wrote advising that C. Shaw, a member of its third grade team, had sustained a broken collar bone on Saturday.—Noted.

The Old Boys Club wroto notifying that C. Sutherland had sustained an injury in the senior match versus Feilding on Saturday and requesting that ho bo placed on the insurauco list. —Noted. GENERAL.

Tho referee in the junior grade match West End Old Boys v. Bunnythorpe re ported having ordered off the field B. tic Cloene, a member of the former team, for disputing his decisions. —The player was placed on the caution list, an amendment that he bo placed on the bank for two playing Saturdays being lost on -a show of hands. Mr Collins gave notico of motion that in future only one senior match bo played on tho oval at the Showgrounds. The mover was desirous of putting the matter to an immediate test, but the necessary unanimity was not forthcoming and it will accordingly come up for discussion on next meeting night. It was lator decided that when two senior matches are staged on the oval a charge of six pence be for admission to tho email stand. SHOW FOOTBALL. The chairman reported having met tho football committee of the A. and XL Association when tho following programme was drawn up for Siiow week: —Wednesday, Soccer match with Rugby match High School v. Te Auto to follow; Thursday, Oroua v. To Kawau with Wellington Training College v. a local senior team to follow; Saturday, Fejlding High School v. High School 11. fifteen with High School v. AVairarapa High School to follow. On the motion of Mr Ongley, seconded by Mr McHcrron, it was decided to match Old Boys with the Wellington Training College on the Thursday, subject to the team concerned being agreeable.
