RELEASE OF SLAVES.
(United Service.) CALCUTTA, May 6
A slave-releasing expedition into the Burmese Triangle recently returned after the release of a final batch of 1028 slaves. No slaves now remain.
At a laregly attended durbar the Commissioner announced the definite abolition of slavery in the Kachin Hills. Generous compensation had been paid and henceforth there was no further right to possess slaves or to receive compensation.
