Mr J. T. M. Brewster, who has been appointed engineer to the Horowhenna County Council, has arrived in Levin from Nelson with Mrs. Brewster and their family.

Mr G. K. Hamilton, headmaster of the Tauranga District High School, and formerly in charge of Hokowhitu School, passed through Palmerston North yesterday on route to Wellington to'attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute.

Mr Harry Massey, a well-known personality among North Auckland farmers, died in a private hospital at Auckland. Ho was a settler of Wairere, Paporoa, and aged 56. For many years Mr Massey was stock agent for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.

Word was received in Auckland from London last week of the sudden death of Mr Lawrence E. Moss. Mr Moss, who had for some years resided in London, was a well-known merchant of Sydney, and was married in Auckland to Miss Sybil Davis, second daughter of Mr Moss Davis, an old resident of Auckland.

Afessrs F. C. Campbell and W. Schwartz,-of Palmerston North, are attending the annual meeting at Wellington of the New Zealand Assistant Masters’ Association as representatives of the Manawatu district. Air Campbell will also represent the district at the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute.

Air T. F. Hewat, a very old resident of the district, is leaving Pahiatua. Air Hewat is well-known in bowling circles, and was one of the foundation members of the Pahiatua Bowling Club, being at one time president. He was years a member of the Pahiatua Borough Council, and filled the position of act-ing-Alayor with distinction. The friends of Aliss O’Donnell, of the teaching staff of tlio Terrace End School, will regret to learn that her father, Air W. J.
