In the House of Commons, at the reponfc stage of the Equal Franchise Bill, Mr T. Kennedy, Labour member for Rochdale, moved ail amendment to reduce the maximum a candidate could spend on city and borough elections.
Sir William Joynson-Hicks: Labour won 20 seats in the London borough at an expenditure of 2.65 d per elector; itho Conservatives 31 seats at 4d; tho Liberals three at a cost of 41-34 d.
The amendment was defeated bv 214 to 100.
