AUTUMN BLOOMS

EXHIBITION AT SANDON. (from Our Own Correspondent.) SANDON, May 7. Tho show organised by the Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held in tho Public Hall on Saturday. Considering tho unfavourable weather, the .exhibits were very fine. In the open elass tho points prize was won by Mr J. W. L. Mandeno (Wanganui) and Air L. W. Simpson (Feikling) who secured nil equal number of points. Last year s winner was Mr Mandeno. The trophy for Sandon and district growers was won by Mr Alan Henson for tho second time. This grower is to be congratulated on his success. Master Basil Yorke was the winner of the trophy in tho class for novices. Tlio champion bloom of tho show was a fine specimen of “Annie Hamilton,” exhibited by Mrs T. R. Willis (Marton). The judging in tho various classes was in the bands of Mr A. J. Sbailcr (Pnlmerston.North) and Mr Gibson for tho blooms and produce and Mesdames W. J. Phillips and J. F. McKelvie for home industries and decorative. The secretarial wero in the capablo hands of Rev. C. 11. Kindon and Mr Fred Read. Several stalls wero open for business during tho afternoon and evening, good business being reported. Tho stalls were presided over by the following ladies Sowing. Mesdames J. Henson, H. Fagan and H. Binson; produce, Mrs Lo Roy, I-lenson, Misses Croucher and Harris; sweets, Misses Masters, Fagan and Matthews (2); afternoon tea, Mesdames Gedye, Yorke, Wilson, Pearce, C. Masters and J. Masters. During the evening musical items wero rendered by Miss Nancy Fagan and Mrs W. E. Pearce, Rev. Howard Fagan, D.D., also gave an interesting and amusing address on his first experiences and impressions of America. The winners of tho various competitions held during the afternoon and evening wero as follows Cake guessing, Rev. Dr. Fagan; doll’s name, Nellie Masters; peas in bottle, Miss Nancy Fagan; nail driving, ladies, Mrs A. Anderson; gentlemen, Rex Harris. PRIZE LIST.
