BAY OF ISLANDS SEAT. MR GROUNDS NOT A CANDIDATE. ♦WHANGAREI, May 3. Mr H. M. Rushworth has been denitely chosen to oppose Mr Allen Bell in the Bay of Islands electorate at the forthcoming general election. A conference, attended by 72 farmers’ delegates, was held at Ohaeawai last Thursday, when a letter was received from Mr Grounds stating that circumstances prevented him from standing. The delegates, without hesitation, selected Mr Rushworth, and upon his reluctantly accepting nomination he was cheered to the echo.
