QUEEN UNVEILS.
AFGHAN ROYALTY’S VISIT.
LONDON, Jan. 14. The problem of housing the Amir of Afghanistan, Amanullah Khan, his Queen and staff during their stay in England in March is exercising the minds of British officials.
During the first three days the party will be the guests of the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace. Thereafter, the Government has agreed to provide the entertainment for this progressive and' enterprising ruler, whose country is becoming increasingly important to Britain.—- It should lack neither ceremony nor cordiality, but the Government is in a dilemma. There is no spare palace available, and it is doubtful whether the Kabul King and his retinue would regard a London hotel as worthy of their British hosts.
Queen Thah Khanum emerges for the first time unveiled. She has worn her veil en route to India and Egypt, but Amanullah Khan insists that there is no religious obligation under Islam to do so. She unveiled as- soon as she embarked at* Alexandria, and mixed freely with‘the passengers.
