NEW GOVERNOR.
OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA. “DELIGHTED TO ACCEPT.” LONDON, Jan. 14. “It i 3 a great honour, I am delighted to accept!” is how Colonel Alexander Gore Arkwright Hore-Rutliven, V.C., C. 8., C.M.G., D. 5.0., responded when he was invited to become South Australia’s newest Governor. The special representative of the Sydney Sun found Colonel Hore-Rutliven in the commandant’s private house at Aldershot after he hdd spent a long day with the Guards. “Australia,” he said, “will not be new for me, but something familiar and very delightful. My association with Australia has been almost constant since 190 S, when I toured the country with Lord Kitchener. I was afterwards j secretary to the Governor-General j (Lord Dudley), and spent two of my. happiest months at Government House, J Adelaide. I have many old friends i still there. I again met the Australians on Gallipoli.” , Colonel Hore-Rutliven is a keen hunter, cricketer, and golfer. He hopes to play in South Australia.
