PRICES VERY FIRM.
STRONG GENERAL COMPETITION
Received January 20, 2.5 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 19. At the wool sales 10,328 bales were offered, of which 3634 were Australian and 2059 New Zealand. There was a splendid selection of Merinos suitable for the Continent and Yorkshire and a miscellaneous lot of crossbreds. There was strong, general competition and prices were very firm. New Zealand clips: Piako, top price, 21d, average 19d; HL/W 23d, 22d; Black Pakawa 244 d, 23d. The Bradford tops market is less active.—A- and N.Z. cable.
