DOMINION TOURNAMENT.

FINALITY IN PAIRS AND RINKS

CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 20.

The bowling tournament was continued to-day in beautiful weather. Finality was reached in the Pairs and Rinks competitions and the following were left in the Singles:—Edwards (Temuka) two lives; Winston (Auckland), ono life; Clarke (Carlton), one life. The finals of the Pairs was contested by Maitai (D. Dunpliy and G. Logan) and Hataitai (J. Kershaw and W. Feilding), tin: former winning 26 9. In the Rinks final Caledonian (F. Kettler, V. Langley, D. Hutchison, W. Foster) beat Ternuka (J. Gourley, L. Hunt, W. McCallum, T. Edwards).

Foster was one up on the fourth head and Edwards scored singles on the next two but did not score on the next and eigth. The ninth gave him four. With three heads to go, Ternuka were two up. On the 19th Foster scored four and took the lead which lie maintained running out tho-winnor. 19—15, in a game which was marked by good bowling and the number of heads burnt. SEQUEL TO TOURNAMENT INCIDENT. Following an incident in connection with the New Year tournament, a player belonging to one of the Palmerston North clubs was called before a special meeting of the Manawatu. Bowling Centre yesterday afternoon to show cause why ho should not bo suspended for allegedly indulging in unseemly remarks and disturbing' the good fellowship of the other players, thus infringing rule 32 of the Dominion Bowling Association. Evidence was heard from both sides of the question, the upshot being that it was decided to disqualify the player for the remainder of the season.

Rule 32 states: “Any centre shall havo power, on inquiry, to disqualify or suspend, either temporarily or permanently, any player who may be found guilty of unfair play; or wilfully altering a bowl after it is stamped by the official tester of the centre; of using profane or indecent language; of betting on the result of a game in which he is a player or, in the opinion of the centre, of misconducting himself during a game.”
